April showers bring May flowers. It was true for Cierra & Kevin’s spring wedding, and we did 95% all of our shooting indoors! Little Lights on the Lane in West Branch and Saint Elizabeth church in Hiawatha provided beautifully for their wedding day. It was a whirlwind adventure, and we had a bit of traveling to do between getting ready, the ceremony, and reception, but all was smooth sailing. I had a wonderful time getting to know Cierra, Kevin, and their family. Kevin, your Grandma is just the sweetest!

Cierra & Kevin found me through their venue, Little Lights on the Lane. We met on an open house night and I sent them a contract the next day! I was so excited to get a booking at Little Lights, as I helped grow the venue, working closely with the owner (a very close friend who photographed my own wedding!) for several years and it will always have a special place in my heart. As you might know, I’ve done photography (portrait sessions, second shooting weddings, and editing for another photographer as well) since 2016 but pushed off the dock into doing this full time for my own business in December 2020. It was an honor to shoot my first “full time photographer” wedding at Little Lights. Especially for Cierra and Kevin. You can just tell how close they are, how much they understand each other, and how well-matched they are. They are just always on the same page!

We started the day getting ready at Little Lights, and split up some wedding party photos as Cierra and Kevin would see each other for the first time at the start of the ceremony. Then we drove to the ceremony and back. The rain let up for a few brief moments and we took advantage of that, snapping a few outdoor photos. We returned to Little Lights for full wedding party photos, dinner, and dancing. It was a lovely day!
