Documenting Kori & Alex’s growing family at the Linen & Light Studio
I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Buffingtons since the early days when I was just getting started professionally and Hudson was just a few months old. Little Olive just had her first birthday and we documented it here along with some family photos.
I always look forward to seeing these guys! It was our second time at the Bettendorf Linen & Light studio and it suits our needs so well. I just wish it wasn’t so far away! It’s about 50 minutes for us both, coming from Iowa City and Muscatine, but so worth it during the winter months. Can’t wait until I find a suitable studio space near me in the Corridor. Until then, this studio is an affordable rate, clean and well stocked, and provides some really cute props (check it out, photographers in the Quad Cities, and thank me later).
I love capturing the candids of Hudson and Olive. Sometimes that is all I can get out of Hudson, but he’s so cute while playing hard-to-get that we get some great shots of him even so. He’s usually hiding around a tree somewhere but in this case, it’s the curtain. I mean, look at his mischievous grin.
I cleaned up the white balance in these photos and am really happy with the look of them, and think I’ll continue to edit this way. In fact, I did for my most recent wedding and I think they are fabulous, too! Kicking myself for not doing it sooner, but I was in the midst of busy season then.
What made this session a success
- Kori chose natural earthy colors here, and rather than all wearing the same color, they’re each complementing one another with a good balance of light and dark
- Good lighting at the studio!
- A neutral background
- A patient photographer 🙂
