I love the simplicity we were able to capture in this session. Their little guy was in a good mood, their neighborhood pond was naturally gorgeous and the early morning light was hitting just right. I'm also one of those photographers that just really believes all nature is beautiful and the long prairie grasses are *chef's kiss* to me. Someday when I own my own house, I want to make it a prairie instead of a mowed lawn.
In my family sessions, and all sessions, I like to capture the most candid, natural moments that I can. I set up different situations where I have a good view on everyone in the frame, and allow them to interact with each other, getting shots like the ones you see here. I love the little moments in between poses and zooming in on your little one's toes, outfit, expressions, and other details that pop out to me.
Some tips for a successful family session:
- Dress simply
- Be flexible (the more you try to control the outcome, the more your kids fight back. Hey, I don't make the rules.)
- Think about nap times/snack times for your little ones and avoid scheduling our session time when they'll be cranky or hungry
- Your home/yard is prettier than you think
- Bring a blanket
- Go barefoot!
- Relax :)
